Logic bows at No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (chart dated Dec. 5), earning the rapper his first chart-topper as his sophomore studio album, The Incredible True Story¸ opens with 118,000 copies sold in the week ending Nov. 19, according to Nielsen Music. Over on the Billboard 200 it starts at No. 3 with 135,000 equivalent album units.
The rapper surpasses the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums entrance of his debut album, Under Pressure, which opened at No. 2 on the chart with 73,000 copies (Nov. 8, 2014).
True Story is a concept album (subtitled …And the Transformation of the Man Who Saved the World), which takes place 100 years in the future in a post-apocalyptic voyage to a new planet (called Paradise).
Two songs from the set enter Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, led by “Fade Away,” which arrives at No. 44 with the majority of contributing points coming from 1.9 million weekly streams -- with 56 percent stemming from Spotify plays. The second song to debut on the list is “I Am The Greatest,” just barely making the bottom of the chart at No. 50 with 1.7 million streams backing its entry.
Both album tracks mark Logic’s first and second titles to ever appear on the hybrid chart, which blends airplay, sales, and streaming.
Logic returns to the Billboard Artist 100 chart, which measures the week's most popular artists, amid activity surrounding the release of True Story.
